Local Internet Solutions (IS) Wi-Fi customers will be the first Wi-Fi users in the country to enjoy secured wireless Internet access following the launch of AlwaysOn Secure.  AlwaysOnSecure uses an advanced 256-bit encryption key to provide secure Wi-Fi access at no additional cost to IS AlwaysOn Wi-Fi customers. To make use of this service IS AlwaysOn Wi-Fi customers will need to register on the AlwaysOnSecure landing page using their valid username and password, which will generate a unique encryption key. “This unique AlwaysOnSecure encryption key is dynamically adjusted every few minutes, offering the highest level of security available on any network, even exceeding the security capabilities offered by most wired networks,” says Justin Spratt, HotSpot Business Unit Manager at IS. “With this encryption key users can then connect to the AlwaysOnSecure Wi-Fi network.”

 

Spratt explains that IS AlwaysOn Wi-Fi customers will soon have access to two wireless networks at all AlwaysOn enabled venues. “In future, when users log-on they will have access to an ‘Internet’ and ‘AlwaysOnSecure’ network,” he says. “The Internet network is an open Wi-Fi network that requires no network encryption key whereas the AlwaysOnSecure network is totally secured by the network encryption key.” Spratt does point out that both credit card transactions and login credentials on both these networks are secure.
