Capacity Africa has united more than 450 representatives from global and African tier one, two and three carriers, facilitating the connection of voice, data, billing solutions and the security trade. Now in its 11th year, the event seeks to connect wholesale telecoms carriers and business partners across the industry to encourage them to move past their traditional revenue streams and pursue investments to help enrich the African continent.
Our Wholesale Executive, Murray Steyn, visited this premier event to represent Internet Solutions. Overall, it was worth his while, he said, adding that it was good for him and colleague Greg Whitaker to catch up with clients. They had a chance to interact with their clients in one place and received great engagement, especially with our first Point of Presence in Madagascar .

The conference highlighted the need for greater collaborations with other ISPs to allow for the expansion of Africa’s Internet capabilities. Partnerships help to bring innovative services to the market faster. Consumers will have a wider choice and customers will have a better-quality service in remote areas as ISPs there can leverage the infrastructure of a larger, better-positioned provider.
Internet expansion in the developing world, particularly in rural areas, requires that smaller ISPs use the new and emerging technology off the backbone of bigger providers so they can become the most effective and sustainable service providers in their respective markets.
